ChatGPT is a language model. It cannot learn or adapt or be innovative. It works by using a predictive algorithm trained on human writing and pitting likely outputs against a discriminator. It strings words together one by one based on what is "likely" to come next. It's a slightly more sophisticated version of that texting feature that predicts what your next word will be to save time typing. It's not actually "intelligent," although we're calling it AI.
