For my graduation, my mom bought me a book embosser. I've been delighting recently on embossing my name into new additions to my library. This article made me wonder, if some day in the future someone will find one of my books in a used bookstore and wonder who I was, too. It really makes you think about the intentionality of marking a book as yours, of taking ownership of it. I have a few older books with names signed in them; I might add my name to theirs in pen, as a kind of record, if I ever sell or donate them.
