Happy to have inspired you to try it out! The best advice I have for first-time readers of Ulysses: If you get stuck in the first three episodes somewhere, skip to episode 4. Many people give up in episode 3, but that's one of the hardest ones to read, stylistically (because it's pure stream-of-consciousness). Episode 4 goes back to being of a more typical narrative, so if you can push through Episode 3 (or skip it) and make it to 4, you're ahead of the game!
