I hear howls when I suggest queer readings of 'canon' texts, but especially when I write about Shakespeare as potentially bisexual. It frustrates me to no end that people can't keep an open mind. The flipside, I suppose, is that 'accusations' of queerness are used as disinformation to attack people by the same crowd who will shriek if you remind them Freddy Mercury was bi. The transphobic rhetoric about Daniel Radcliffe's partner Erin Darke comes to mind. TERFs were foaming at the mouth to claim she was trans, even when she was visibly pregnant, because Dan Rad refused to capitulate to pro-Rowling transphobes. It's all just exhausting. Thank you for correcting some small piece of misinformation. Even if the author didn't mean to spread it.
