I think it's pretty hard to actually get banned from Medium -- I've seen some pretty offensive things get published too, that have been reported but not taken down. I get that it's hard to moderate a website with user-generated content, but there definitely should be more people employed to check out reports and also an algorithm to detect hate content, such as slurs. It's definitely difficult, but as the platform grows, the more likely there are to be pockets of bigotry that need to be cleaned out.
