It wasn't clear you were responding to a particular question in the article, but even so, this comment was not appropriate. Saying that "women don't grasp" something is essentialist. There was a way to contribute the point to made without putting women down or trivializing the author's assault, which your comment absolutely does (whether you see it that way or not). Also, "I'm sorry you were offended" is not an apology for saying something offensive, it's deflective and, frankly, veers right back into victim-blaming.
