It's crazy to me how much the publishing world has changed in even just ten years. I had a very different experience publishing my books in 2015/16 and then again now in 2023, and although I write fiction, the emphasis on author-based marketing is the biggest shift. I worry that AI authorship will edge out nonfiction writers faster than fiction writers, but it's coming for us all -- the only difference (other than quality and accuracy, which people seem to care less about these days) is a human's ability to market themselves rather than their book, which is exhausting. (Also, if you've had a blog, you are an "actual" blogger -- don't sell yourself short!)
