I've heard that if you edit a published article too much, you can also lose distribution. A previously distributed article can be dropped if the algorithm decides it doesn’t contain the same content anymore; shouldn’t be the case for typos or minor edits, but big ones can apparently cause the algorithm to reevaluate it. Maybe that’s what happened?
