Lovely review of an important episode that handled a difficult topic in a really clever and sensitive way, especially given the release date. Sometimes I feel like Discovery, conversely, hammered the nail a little too hard in an attempt to 'keep up' -- they had a whole episode about a nonbinary character's pronouns, which felt very out of place (because by the 2230s, I would hope we'd moved past that!). Strange New Worlds, on the other hand, does a much better job at subtlety, just having a nonbinary character whose identity isn't the focus of anything, they just exist and everyone is cool with it. Really loving the vibe of SNW, it feels like 'old trek' again, just updated.
