Luckily I have some high-demand skills to fall back on (I have a PhD), but making a living from writing is about to become even more difficult, with AI to compete against and driving the prices down. I still remember being told that robots would eventually take over all the menial jobs and backbreaking labour so the human beings of the future would be able to pursue art and writing and leisure… now we’re outsourcing art to AI and humans are still getting paid pennies to do menial labour!
