Millennials are Gen Y! The idea is that Millennials remember/came of age during the Millennium, so it's 1980-1995ish, and got the nickname. Kinds born after 1996 probably won't remember much of the Y2K stuff at all, or life before the internet. It's why they were intially going to be the iGen (like iPhone), but that fell out of use in favour of Gen Z/Zoomer to mirror "Boomer." Generation X wasn't named for the letter, but for being forgotten / left out. So the X-Y-Z thing happened retroactively. Anyone born after 2010 isn't even Gen Z, but the new Gen Alpha. My kids will probably be in Gen Beta, if we continue this new naming convention.
