My partner and I both self-identify as being on the spectrum (after a lot of online self-diagnostic tests, debates, and research). I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was five. ADHD often co-presents with autism, but usually kids will get a diagnosis of one or the other rather than both because there's overlap in diagnostic criteria. (And women are much less likely to be diagnosed as autistic in general, despite no evidence that it is less common in girls.)

I love how supportive you are of your autistic partner. My partner and I have noticed that a lot of the people we spend time with are either on the spectrum, or suspect they might be-- it's like we naturally flock together! I also think autists are over-represented in academia and the sorts of professions you mentioned (teachers, nurses, programmers).
