Nah, the future that was sold to my generation was that robots would take over the menial work -- the factory lines, the mining, the dirty and unsafe jobs no one wants -- so that people will be able to pursue art and leisure activities. I'm all for automating work. The problem is capitalism. You can't have both: either people need to provide "value" to live OR we make life easier for humans to do things they love. If all my needs were provided for, I'd still write. I'd provide that service 100% free. Art will still get made once we abandon this idea that humans need to be constantly working to increase their capital.
