Sorry to hear about your experience; it's horrifically common that such toxic people remain in positions of power. I like to think that these things are generally getting better with more awareness (especially post-MeToo), but there are obviously still huge problems with whisper networks by their very nature. So easy to abuse and spread false info... but the alternatives usually aren't better.
