That's exactly where I stand as well. If the other editors had been more contrite, apologized and made moves to ensure that the project could go ahead without PMD for the sake of the writers and readers involved, I think people would've been more open to the idea of moving forward with the collection as planned. But PMD was central (and included one of his own stories in the lineup...), and Lansdale defended him and then went the self-pity route (losing community trust), so the whole thing being scrapped makes a lot of sense.
