Three *paywalled* stories is the key here. Many stories are not behind the MPP paywall. For example, I don't paywall any of my poetry, or stories under 1K words. Nonpaying members can read as many of those as they wish! Also, many of the bigger accounts don't paywall at all, and there are of course all the writers from countries not supported by Stripe.
