You definitely captured the experience of being a woman in the public eye. I hate my author photo from my first two books -- it was chosen for me by the publisher out of about twenty I sent, because nothing else was "professional enough." It was taken at a team-building even my first year in uni and I'm wearing a name tag. Nothing says "professional author!" more than a photo of nineteen-year-old me in a name tag with a half-grown pixie cut, but it was also one where I was smiling and feminine and wearing makeup. The photo I use now (actually my current profile pic too!) was taken by my now-husband while we had a picnic together under our favourite tree. I'm wearing his hat, which I stole; my bra strap is showing; my smile doesn't have teeth. But it's real and looks way more like me than the posed "professional" photo my first publisher went with.
