Sure! I've only been writing consistently for Medium since mid-October 2021 (I made $16 in Oct, $100 in Nov, and $105 in Dec) but I think I've got some stuff figured out.
Writing for publications is important when you don't have a high follower count yet. Getting into a "big" publication doesn't necessarily mean getting a lot of views, though, so choose where you submit based on the best fit for your story, rather than just the highest follower count.
I use Lists to organize my stories from different genres, to keep things really clear and separate. Pinning your best story to the top of your profile also helps to keep it in the public attention every time someone visits your page; make sure to highlight your best work.
Self-promote. Include a little pitch of yourself and/or your other work at the bottom of all your stories. Keeping your referral link handy as well as links to your best work will help build your audience and promote older stories.
Post high-quality work rather than lots of clickbait or fast articles. Articles with "staying power" (work that remains interesting people for a long period of time) will do better in the long run than a news article that is irrelevant in two days.
That's a lot for now, but if you want to read more about my journey on Medium, you should check out my list of Medium Meta stories: https://clawrenc.medium.com/list/medium-meta-9a563ebeaac3
Some of the ones that give the best tips of what I did are "November Wrap-Up: 30+ stories in 30 days" (https://clawrenc.medium.com/november-wrap-up-30-stories-in-30-days-d31195b924f) and "2021 in Review" (https://clawrenc.medium.com/2021-in-review-1536c2dc93b4), but you might also be interested in "How to Use Medium Lists Effectively" (https://medium.com/creators-hub/how-to-use-medium-lists-effectively-bb9b4647a3b1) and some of the other tips-and-tricks based articles I've got in that list.
I hope that helps!!
